Wow! These first few weeks of school have flown by. We are seeing great things as we walk around the school and join-in during classroom lessons. Below you will find some useful information on things that are going on at CWES in the coming days and weeks. Be sure to check our website regularly for updates and photos.
Based on parent feedback we received last year, our schools are trying a new fundraiser this year. We will be selling valuable, family-friendly KidStuff Coupon Books filled with hundreds of national, regional and local coupons for all ages! The KidStuff Book is conveniently organized, offers incredible savings and is sold exclusively through schools. Our school earns 50% or more profit for every book we sell. Use just a few coupons and easily save more than the $25 cost of the book. Most coupons are long-term and valid for 16 months!
There are also 26 editions for friends and family that aren't local. They will be listed on the first page of your KidStuff book or visit http://www.kidstuffcb.
Book sales will run through Friday, September 30, 2016. Please return all books (unless you sell 5 as mentioned above) and money to the main office by Friday, September 30. The orders will be available for distribution in mid-to late October, more information on this as the sale closes out.
The Scholastic Book Fair is going on now in the library. Students can buy books during their scheduled classroom library time from now until next Wednesday, September 21st. Parents are welcome to come with their child on Tuesday, September 20th from 3:15-4:00 pm to buy books. The last day for the book fair is Thursday, September 22nd, be sure to make your purchases before then. All purchases help support our school library.
Fall NWEA Testing:
Students in grades 1 through 3 have begun their fall NWEA benchmark assessments. Students in grades 1 and 2 will be taking computerized assessments in both reading and mathematics. Third grade students will be taking computerized assessments in reading, mathematics, and science. These assessments are used to inform teachers about what our students know and are ready to learn. Student scores and progress will be shared with parents during Parent Conferences in November. Below is the testing schedule. You can ensure that your child is ready to do their best by encouraging them to go to bed early the night before the assessments and to eat a healthy breakfast in the morning.
Grade 1: Mathematics: September 20 and 21
Reading: September 27 and 28
(Grade one students take the assessment over two days, as they are new to NWEA)
Grade 2: Mathematics: September 20
Reading: September 22
Grade 3: Reading: September 15
Mathematics: September 22
Science: September 29
School Picture Day:
This coming Monday, September 19th is school picture day. Please be sure to send your child in with the order form if you plan on buying photos. All students will have their photos taken whether you buy them or not. We use the pictures for the year book and PowerSchool database.
